Diana Arevalo graduated from PSJA High School in 1996. She attended UTPA and UNT, then graduated from UT-Austin in 2001 with a Bachelor of Journalism with a concentration in Photojournalism. She currently teaches photojournalism, yearbook and Spanish I B. She previously taught photojournalism and advised the yearbook at Del Valle High School in Austin for four years.

Ms. Arevalo’s grandparents began migrating to Minnesota and Michigan in the 1970’s. As a child she worked alongside her parents and sisters hoeing sugar beets and soy beans and picking apples, blueberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, and grapes. After graduating from high school, Ms. Arevalo continued to migrate to Minnesota, working as an office manager for Migrant Health Services and assisting in the fields after work and during the weekends.

Ms. Arevalo’s message to migrant students is…"Never forget how hard it has been to work in the fields. Use that experience as your motivation to accomplish the goals you have set for yourself."

Thank you Ms. Arevalo for making our kids feel special.
You are truly appreciated.
