ECISD Migrant Students Visit TAMIU

Friday, November 21st, ECISD high school migrant students visited Texas A & M International University. In spite of the cold and rainy weather students were given a tour of the campus and were able to get first-hand information about the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) from former Johnny G. Economedes students attending the university. Leonel Lazo, Susy Rios and Wilma Davila led the tour and presentations with the assistance of other CAMP students and the guidance of the TAMIU CAMP staff and recruiter, Jaime Ayala. All 34 students filled out applications. TAMIU is close to home for some students. It is a small public university with a low student-teacher ratio with the benefits of private schools without the high price tag.
