Hidalgo Co. DA Speaks to Jaguar NHS
On January 29, 2015, the Johnny Economedes High School (JEHS) National Honor Society (NHS) had their Induction Ceremony at the Alberto Garza Performing Arts Center. The featured guest was newly elected Hidalgo County District Attorney, Ricardo Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez spoke to the students about his humble beginnings, overcoming obstacles, and being proud of where they come from. District Attorney Rodriguez is a product of Edinburg schools. He pursued his higher education at the University of Texas San Antonio and at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Mr. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of giving back to your community. The co-guest speaker for the ceremony was Mrs. Delia Perez. She serves as a JEHS Social Studies Teacher, AVID Coordinator, and AP Coordinator. Mrs. Perez is a graduate of Edcouch Elsa High School, Yale University, and UT Austin. Both speakers encourage the students to pursue higher education and pursue their dreams.
