2015-2016

 Sky's the Limit Migrant Club

- and it doesn't stop there."

2015 - 2016

This school year was a year of breaking records for the 2015 - 2016 Sky's the Limit Migrant Club. Apart from having the most migrant club members this year, the club was able to take 62 club members to The Alamo and Six Flags. The club was able to give out 12 scholarships of $100 each to 12 deserving seniors. The success of the club this year is attributed to great leadership and an organized weekly to semi-weekly meeting. The Sky's the Limit Migrant Club meetings were held after school on Wednesdays in the library. The Chaplin promptly started the meeting with a prayer and then the students sang the migrant club song. After the migrant club song, the officers started the meeting by reading the minutes of the previous meeting and reading the treasurer's report.  All old and new news were discussed prior to the meeting at the officers' meeting, so reviewing it at the club meeting was actually a summation of what had transpired at the officers' meeting one or two days before. All members received points for attending the club officers and the members' meetings and for wearing the migrant club shirt. All activities that the migrant club members got involved in helped them to earn points.  The objective was to receive the most points possible. The top migrant club seniors with the most points competed for 12 - $100 scholarships, money that was raised by the migrant club members or donated by the community or sponsors.  Each year, the club donated to this cause $500 to $700, depending on how much money the club was able to raise with the fundraisers.  This year, the club had two World's Finest Chocolates Fundraisers, one first semester and one second semester and the money was used to give more scholarships and to take more students to San Antonio. The members also sold popcorn, pickles and drinks after school throughout the school year to raise funds. Thank you for your support!
